One of the biggest cheers of last night came long after the final whistle had blown as news filtered through of Chelsea's defeat at Middlesbrough.
Arsène Wenger was as surprised as anyone to hear that Middlesbrough had beaten the champions with two late goals but, as he pointed out in his post-match press conference, it's not the first time the Teessiders have upset one of the Premiership big boys.
"I was surprised because Chelsea don't lose many times but in England you can lose everywhere and that tells a lot about Middlesbrough," Wenger said.
"I read in a few newspapers that Middlesbrough will struggle this year but they have started well and that will give them confidence.
"Middlesbrough is a little bit of a specalist of this kind of coup. They did it last year against us, against Chelsea and against Manchester United. They look like they can find resources against the big teams in the league."
