Arsène Wenger insists that his side will be taking their FA Cup Third Round opponents, Plymouth Argyle, very seriously.
In three of the last four seasons, Arsenal have dispatched Championship opponents in their opening tie of the competition, but Wenger believes that the Pilgrims will provide his side with a real challenge.
Speaking after Sunday’s hard-fought victory over Chelsea, the Frenchman spoke about the shrinking gap between the two divisions before discussing the possibility of a replay in Devon.
“We will take them very seriously,” said Wenger. “They are in the Championship which has got, in the last three or four years, closer to the Premier League. When I saw Wolves against Birmingham you could see they are good teams [in the league].
