Arsène Wenger has dismissed claims from Petr Cech that Chelsea are now Manchester United's main challengers for the Premier League title.

The defending champions moved above Arsenal on Wednesday night after they beat Birmingham 3-1 while their London rivals had to settle for a 3-3 draw in a pulsating derby at Tottenham.

The positional switch prompted Cech to suggest that the Blues, not the Gunners, would push United hardest in the final weeks of the season. But Wenger does not agree with the Chelsea goalkeeper.

"I’m quite open to everything but mathematically, and I was not too bad at Maths, it’s quite difficult to understand the logic of his statement," said the Arsenal manager.

"You cannot say Chelsea are not the form team. But when they have the same number of points, mathematically I can't see a difference."
