Arsène Wenger believes his experienced players will take extra responsibility this season.
The average age of the Frenchman's squad has dropped this summer following the departure of Robert Pires and Sol Campbell, plus the retirement of Dennis Bergkamp.
Wenger wants the likes of Gilberto and Jens Lehmann to help nurture the Club's promising youngsters and will look to bring in another experienced player if Ashley Cole leaves before the transfer window closes on August 31.
"We have lost a lot of experienced players so the weight on the [current] experienced players is stronger this year," Wenger said. "Jens Lehmann and Gilberto have a bit more to carry, before [the responsibility] was more shared.
"Someone could speak with Pires, Bergkamp or Campbell before. Now the responsibility of our experienced players is bigger than ever.
"If we bring in someone with experience then I feel we will be strong enough and experienced enough."
