Wenger - No offers for Justin Hoyte yet

By Richard Clarke

As yet Arsenal have had no formal offers for Justin Hoyte.

Over the summer the right back was linked with a move to Aston Villa but the Midlanders have now signed Luke Young from Middlesbrough. However that has left a vacancy at the Riverside and it has been speculated that Gareth Southgate was hoping Hoyte could fill it.

But, speaking after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla at the Amsterdam Tournament, Wenger denied the 23-year-old was on the verge of a move.

“At the moment, he is with us and we have had no formal offer from anybody,” said the manager. “There is interest here and there, but nothing concrete.”

However there is a possibility of youngsters leaving Arsenal on loan before the transfer window closes. Wenger has a very young squad and accepts that some may need further experience before they can play for the first team at Emirates Stadium.

“I may let one or two go on loan because they need to play,” he said. “It is part of their education. It is not especially to get Premiership experience, but to play in the first team every week with that pressure. Then, when we feel they are ready to integrate in the first team, they come back."
