Arsène Wenger insists Samir Nasri will give everything in an Arsenal shirt if he plays against Liverpool on Saturday.
The manager has confirmed that the midfielder is in contention for a starting spot at Emirates Stadium despite strong reports linking him with a move to Manchester City.
Nasri has trained with the rest of the squad this week and Wenger is confident his professionalism means he will give nothing less than 100 per cent if selected.
“If Samir plays against Liverpool, he can prove how committed he is to this club,” he said. “I never questioned his love for this club. We are professionals as well.
“He was suspended on Tuesday night. If he were not suspended he would have played and he is in contention for a position in the team against Liverpool.
“What will happen after? I don’t know. You do your job until the last day of your life at the Club - the rest is speculation. That doesn’t interfere with your dedication and the way you do your job.
“Nasri is in the squad. If I decide to play him he will play. When you are professional you play until the last day.
“Everywhere I have worked in my life I have made sure that until the last second of where I was I did the job properly. He is paid this month by Arsenal Football Club so why should he not play?”
