Arsène Wenger thinks the MLS was the "right move" for Thierry Henry last year.

The Arsenal legend left Barcelona for the New York Red Bulls in the summer of 2010 and, after finding his form and fitness, has become the most feared striker in the MLS.

Henry is back in London this weekend for the Emirates Cup and is guaranteed a rapturous reception when he takes to the pitch. Wenger was reunited with his compatriot before the tournament and thinks Henry made the correct decision to head Stateside.

"It was the right move for him because he had made the tour in Europe," said Wenger.

"He is a very intelligent boy and for him to go to a different country was needed when he felt certainly that the pressure on him in the last year was immense.

"Remember the qualifier against Ireland [when he committed a handball], that played a big part in his decision and as well he is a guy who always likes the States.

"If he can help to develop football in the States it’s a fantastic move. He looked very happy when I had a few words with him today."
