Arsène Wenger believes that Ryo Miyaichi can take the Premier League by storm this season.
The Japanese winger joined Arsenal in January but spent the final months of last term on loan at Feyenoord while he waited for clearance to play for Wenger’s side in the UK.
Miyaichi’s work permit was granted this week and Wenger believes the 18-year-old will be a worthy addition to his squad.
“We got the work permit for him because he is an exceptional talent,” said the manager.
“Overall we are very happy because he is one of the players who can have a big impact this season. He will play as a striker, right or left, he is a winger type and he is very keen.”
Wenger cannot call upon Miyaichi for Saturday’s Premier League kick off at Newcastle but the Frenchman expects the teenager to be available for the Liverpool game on August 20.
“He cannot play [this weekend], he is in Japan at the moment to get a permanent visa to come back and be registered with the Premier League,” explained Wenger.
“He will not be available tomorrow or for the Champions League on Tuesday but he should be available after.”
