Ignasi Miquel has shown he has the potential to be a top-level player, according to Arsène Wenger.
The Arsenal manager handed the 18-year-old centre back his first-team debut at Leyton Orient on Sunday and Miquel made an excellent impression with a composed display in the FA Cup tie.
Wenger will turn to his more experienced defender for Wednesday night's visit of Stoke City but he expects Miquel to make the grade.
"He is not yet ready [for Premier League or Champions League] but he did enough to show that he will play in the Premier League and the Champions League," Wenger told Arsenal.com. "I feel that is the most important thing.
"He has some aspects of his game that he has to work on, a bit more committed in the challenges, better in the air. But overall he has shown that he has the potential to play in there."Copyright 2016 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
