On the performance...
"We were not sharp and Liverpool were more
determined. On top of that, we put them in an ideal situation with
the early goal. They won because they deserved to win. They were
sharper, more determined, more mobile."
On Peter Crouch...
"He made a big difference today. We could not
handle him. The three goals were from three crosses. Each time he
was on his own, mainly because he made the difference with his
runs. He is an intelligent player and I felt we gave him too much
room. We were not compact enough as a team and gave them the space
to move in between our line. After that it was very
difficult."
On the rest of the season...
"It is a bad result and a disappointing
performance. If we think we can go like that to the end of the
season it will not work. We have to pick ourselves up and come
out with a different performance."
On motivation...
"I don't think it is a bad attitude from
the players. They don't want it. But maybe subconsciously they
think 'Ok let's just make sure we finish in the top
four'. But football does not work like that, you have to give
your all. We have to prepare like it is a Cup Final from now until
the end of the season if we are to get the results that we want. We
have a very difficult programme and we need to realise that we need
full commitment to get into the top four."
On finishing in the top four...
"I feel we have to win our home games and get
one or two results away. That means we have to put in a different
performance from today. The players are conscious and disappointed
that we did not produce what we wanted as a team, especially
defensively where we had a horrendous performance today. The
players are intelligent and conscientious. They know we have to
produce a different performance to make sure that we finish the
season well."
