Arsène Wenger believes sustaining Arsenal’s current run of form will be vital to changing people’s perceptions of his team.

Wenger’s side have won eight of their last nine matches in all competitions and could guarantee their qualification to the Champions League knockout stages with a victory over Marseille tonight.

The Frenchman believes a quick route through to the last 16 would be a significant weight lifted off the team’s shoulders.

“When you look where we were in August that would be absolutely tremendous [to qualify after four matches],” he told Arsenal Player.

“Playing against Udinese and playing in the group we had against Dortmund, Marseille and Olympiacos - they are all difficult opponents. It could be job done very early so let's focus on doing it.

“We have created the momentum and now we have to keep that rolling, keep it going. Let's focus on giving absolutely everything in every game.

“At the moment our target is to get stronger in every game and to grow as a team because we are a little bit of an unknown quantity in people's eyes.

“So if we can grow from game to game maybe people will wait a little bit and think they have judged us too early.”
