Arsène Wenger believes we should enjoy this golden age of Premier League football while we can.
Arsenal and Liverpool provided more evidence that the English top-flight is the most entertaining in the world when they played out a pulsating 4-4 draw in midweek. Anfield played host to a heady cocktail of stunning goals, individual brilliance and unflinching team spirit, all brought together at breakneck speed.
For Wenger, Tuesday night’s encounter was a reminder of all that is good about English football. But at his pre-match press conference the Arsenal manager issued a warning. According to Wenger, Premier League fans should make the most of what they are seeing – because it might not last.
“That game was further evidence that the Premier League is the most entertaining,” he said.
“It was entertaining not only because of the goals but also because of the quality of the match and the spirit of the game.
“I believe the Premier League has to take care of that and the football managers have to take care of that because sometimes when it all goes well and you live in the middle of it, you don’t know what you have.
“You will rate that maybe one day because I don’t believe that forever that quality will last in England. Let’s enjoy it.”Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
