Arsène Wenger has hailed the return to action of young midfielder Conor Henderson.

Henderson came on for the reserves in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Reading on Monday after eight months out with a knee injury.

The promising 20-year-old had made progress towards the first team with a place in the squad’s pre-season visit to Germany last summer and Wenger is delighted to welcome the youngster back.

“It is fantastic because he had a massive injury in Cologne in pre-season and I am so happy to see him back because that is twice now that it has happened to him,” the Frenchman told Arsenal Player.

“He has recovered from that and I believe he is a very good player. Hopefully he will show that now in the coming months, especially in pre-season this year.”
