on reaching the final...
"This team has produced, there has not been one
boring game from the first competition at West Brom until tonight.
The game was entertaining, they played with style, they played with
mental strengths and resilience, they played with heart, I'm
very proud of them for the whole competition and they deserve to be
involved in the final. How? Of course I will want to win the final
but as well I want them to be there and to play - some of them will
play."
on his young team...
"It's fantastic to see, but what's
fantastic as well is to see that sometimes that at such a young
age, young people can cope with the pressure. Young players today
are criticised but they've shown great heart and resilience.
They say always "life is too easy for young boys" but
it's just a question of motivation - how much you want it, and
they have shown they are very motivated. That's good news for
the Club."
on facing Chelsea in Cardiff...
"We played at Liverpool, we played at Everton,
we played at West Brom, we played at Tottenham - why should we
suddenly get a complex if the colour of the shirt is different in
front of us? "
on using his experienced subs...
"Yes, we needed of course, first of all because
it was Walcott's third game in one week and after an hour I
could see, going forward he was still OK, but going back you could
see he had to dig deep. Diaby started to have cramps and
unexpectedly I had to change Traore, he had cramps as well. They
play the game in their heads a little bit before it starts, you
know? Diaby I felt had a good game as well because he has been out
for a year nearly, nine months, and it's only his second
game."
on the progress of his youngsters...
"Yes, of course, I am very proud of what they
have achieved. It's a sensational feeling to work with them and
go through with them. When you look at them when it's one-one
and extra time you know they will not give up, they will continue
to go after. You can win or lose you know, but they have a heart.
It's fantastic to see. It's the work of five
years."
on who will play in the final...
"I don't like to promise what I cannot
deliver because we play many games until the final, but we will
stick to the players who were involved in the Carling Cup only.
Those who have not played until now will not play the
final."
on the threat of Spurs...
"At one-one, when they bombarded, when they
played long ball, you know? We were a little bit wobbling when they
came back to one-one, and it needed extra time, we needed a little
breather. After extra time it was all us. When they came back to
one-one they were one, two, three minutes where they looked more
likely to score than us."
