Arsène Wenger believes Saturday's point at Stoke could be a significant boost to his side's hopes of finishing in third - if they win their remaining two matches.

Arsenal’s Champions League destiny remains in their own hands after the 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium, and two wins would ensure them of a place in the group stages next season.

Wenger was pleased with the way his side stood up to the physical challenge posed by Stoke, but insists they must maintain their focus until the very end of the campaign.

“Overall, in the end [our target] was not to lose the game if we could not win it,” he told Arsenal Player. “We don't know how big this point is - it might be a big one in the end. It could be very important if we win our next two games.

“I feel that this season the team has shown fantastic mental qualities and we have improved. You could see that again here that this team is ready for a fight.

“Defensively I thought we were solid and now let's focus to finish the season strongly.”
