Arsène Wenger believes Chelsea's investment has signalled their intention to fight for trophies this season.
Big-money signings Fernando Torres and David Luiz’s arrival at Stamford Bridge on deadline day have strengthened the west Londoners for the business end of the season with Roman Abramovich providing a timely cash injection as their season seemed to be fading.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are currently five points behind Arsenal and a further five behind Premier League leaders Manchester United, but Wenger expects the defending champions to be there or thereabouts come May.
“Abramovich is back in investment and they want to re-build their team,” said Wenger.
“The signal they give to us is [that] they will be still in there, fighting for all the big trophies and they will not slow down on investment.”Copyright 2016 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
