Arsène Wenger feels his team can take huge confidence into tonight’s game against Barcelona on the back of their impressive recent form.
Since Arsenal were drawn against the Catalans on December 17, they have lost just once in 14 games and have won eight of their last nine.
Not only have they closed the gap on the Premier League leaders, the Gunners have also progressed in both domestic cup competitions. That’s why Wenger says belief is high going into the tie.
“If you look at our run and the number of games we have played since the beginning of December you can see this team has made a massive jump,” he said.
“Every step we make forward in massive games strengthens the belief [of the team]. In the consistency of the results, in the quality of our performances.
“After the home game we lost against Newcastle we were eight points behind Chelsea with two away games in front of us against Wolves and Everton.
“Since them we have made up our ground on Chelsea and we are close now to Manchester United.”Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc. Permission to use quotations from this article is granted subject to appropriate credit being given to www.arsenal.com as the source 16 Feb 2011
