Arsène Wenger has been impressed by Craig Eastmond's qualities this season but insists there is still much work to do before he is ready to play regularly for Arsenal.
The 19-year-old was one of the Under-18s' outstanding performers last season and signed professional terms with the Gunners in the summer.
The midfielder agreed a new long-term contract with the Club last week and marked the occasion by making his first Premier League start in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers.
Speaking after the game Wenger explained why Eastmond was included in the starting XI.
"He has shown that he has qualities to be a player [for Arsenal]," said the manager.
"Overall he has shown interesting things. In the second half he got tired and then he started to lose some balls that you do not want to lose but overall it was an interesting performance."
