Arsène Wenger will NOT be signing David Beckham in January.
The England winger has been linked with a move away from LA Galaxy during the MLS off-season and is reportedly close to signing a loan deal with Milan. The 33-year-old did spend some time training with the Arsenal squad in January but, at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Wenger vetoed a permanent move for the player.
The Frenchman does not believe that the right-side of midfield is an area that needs strengthening but he did not rule out a second Beckham training stint at London Colney.
“I wasn't in touch with him at all and I'll certainly not [sign him] as a player for the Club,” Wenger said at Friday’s press conference. “Certainly not.”
“If he wants to be fit and practice, why not? But we have Theo Walcott who plays in this position and Emmanuel Eboue who plays in this position so we are not looking for a right midfielder.”
