Arsène Wenger has slammed the door on becoming the next manager of Real Madrid.
The Frenchman has been strongly linked with the Bernabeu a number of times during his 14-year tenure at Arsenal. Speculation blew up again last summer but in the end the Spanish giants appointed Manuel Pellegrini from Villarreal. The Chilean is still in charge however the media are already scouting for fresh applicants following Real’s Champions League exit on Wednesday night.
Wenger will not be one of them.
“Leave me alone,” he jokingly told journalists as soon as the idea was put to him at Thursday’s press conference. “I always go to the end of my contract and I am going until 2011. So there is no way.
“For me, it is the worst moment to come back on this” he went on.
“At the moment I focus on Hull City.
“That maybe less glamorous than Real Madrid but they are much more important in my life at the moment.”
