Arsène Wenger has not contacted Newcastle about the availability of Sol Campbell.

It was reported this week that the Frenchman had shown an interest in bringing back the 36-year-old for a third spell at Arsenal following injuries to Thomas Vermaelen and Sebastien Squillaci.

The former England international enjoyed a renaissance at Emirates Stadium last season and Wenger expressed a desire to keep him this summer. In the end, Campbell went to St James’ Park and the Frenchman has made no move to lure him away.

“Sol Campbell is at Newcastle,” Wenger told TV Online on Tuesday. “We have not been in touch with him, no.”
