Arsène Wenger considered taking off Jack Wilshere at Old Trafford on Saturday - and thought he was unlucky to get sent off.
The England midfielder saw red for a second bookable offence during Arsenal's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United. Wilshere was cautioned for a late challenge on Tom Cleverley in the first half and was then dismissed for a foul on Patrice Evra with 22 minutes left.
"It was very harsh," said Wenger after the game. "To me it looked a regular challenge.
"Yes, of course [I thought about replacing Wilshere]. But we were in a position where we had to attack and I had no offensive central midfielders on the bench as well.
"I thought I would leave him a bit longer and [the red card] looked harsh from the bench."
