Arsène Wenger may decide not to move for another defender in the transfer window.
Wenger has been forced to use Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Johan Djourou in the full-back positions in recent weeks after losing Andre Santos, Kieran Gibbs, Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson to injury.
But the Frenchman is not convinced that a new recruit will be necessary with Sagna and Gibbs expected back by the end of January.
“At the moment it is very difficult because we have players out who are short to come back,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “There are difficult decisions to make because we are short in the full-back positions.
“But you think, 'do you really want to buy a full back for three or four years?'
“When you have four out and two close to coming back. I think no, because we have people who can do the job during this period.”
