Arsène Wenger has no qualms about shouldering Sebastien Squillaci with extra responsibility during the title run-in.
The French centre back is expected to renew his partnership with compatriot Laurent Koscielny at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday after Johan Djourou was ruled out for a minimum of six weeks with a dislocated shoulder.
Squillaci signed from Sevilla last summer and, like any new recruit, has taken time to find his feet in English football. But Wenger trusts the 30-year-old to produce the goods.
"I think he had a good start to the season, after that he had a little dip in December," said Wenger.
"But the recent games he played, like Stoke, he did well, so I do not especially worry about that."
