Arsène Wenger will not be looking to recruit a new centre back when the January transfer window opens.

The Arsenal manager brought Per Mertesacker in the summer and also has Laurent Koscielny, Thomas Vermaelen, Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci battling for two positions.

Wenger has been linked with a move for Chelsea defender Alex after the Brazilian had a transfer request accepted but he rejected those reports on Friday.

"We will not be on the market for any centre-back, I can assure you," said Wenger.
