Wenger - I expect a busy transfer window

Arsène Wenger is expecting a busy transfer window - especially once the richest clubs start splashing their cash.

Football is feeling the effects of the recession but that didn't stop Manchester City and Real Madrid embarking on a massive spending spree last summer. City alone paid in excess of £100million for Gareth Barry, Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure and Joleon Lescott and that money trickled down through the Premier League and beyond.

Wenger himself could enter the market and he is predicting that a number of clubs will do business before the end of the month.

"The transfer window will be busy because we have some massive clubs who need to buy players or who look like [they will]," said the Arsenal manager.

"You don't imagine [Roberto] Mancini coming in at Manchester City in December without buying a player in January with the amount of money they have.

"If the big clubs move the smaller clubs move as well because they might have some income. So I think it will be busy."
