Samir Nasri has no reason to leave Arsenal, according to Arsène Wenger.

The French star is enjoying a stellar campaign at Emirates Stadium, scoring 14 goals so far and putting himself in the frame for the Footballer of the Year award.

At 23, Nasri still has his best years ahead of him and yet his Arsenal contract only has 18 months to run. But Wenger played down concerns over the midfielder’s future at his pre-match press conference.

“Why should he want to leave?” asked Wenger.

“I am confident [he will stay] because I believe that he knows he is doing well here, he is in a big club.

“I told you already that the recent numbers as well have shown that the players who stay at the club where they are successful have a bigger career than the players who move every two years.

“I’ve tried to tell him that and he knows that.”
