Arsène Wenger certainly knows talent when he sees it and, in new signing Ryo Miyaichi, the manager feels he could have unearthed another gem.

The Frenchman has seen at close quarters the potential of the young forward following an impressive trial over the summer. Miyaichi featured in pre-season friendlies against Boreham Wood and AFC Wimbledon and, after taking a close look at the Japanese, Wenger has pinpointed two areas where the new signing has impressed him.

It was announced in December that Miyaichi would be joining the Club and the deal was finalised on Monday. Speaking in January, Wenger explained why the 18-year-old could shine.

“He impresses us and he impresses me with the quality of his movement, the quality of his game and, you will not be surprised, his attitude,” he said. “[He has] typical dedication, dedication to his job as usually Japanese people are and he shows us that in training.”

Miyaichi isn’t allowed to play in England until he is granted a work permit and has since linked up with Eredivise giants Feyenoord on loan until the end of the 2010/11 season.
