Arsène Wenger would be happy for football to take a leaf out of rugby’s book and allow its officials to explain their decisions.
In rugby, and American football for that matter, referees tell players and fans why they have penalised a certain team or individual.
The same level of communication does not exist in football and Wenger believes a change of tack would have its benefits.
“I am not against it, anything which makes things clear and informs people [is welcome],” said the manager.
“It would be better for the referee than to sometimes explain their decisions under the threat of a fist.
“It would make the situation a bit more passive.”Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc. Permission to use quotations from this article is granted subject to appropriate credit being given to www.arsenal.com as the source 5 Nov 2010
