The opportunity to go top of the Premier League will give Arsenal an extra incentive to beat Tottenham on Saturday, according to Arsène Wenger.

The Gunners go into the weekend two points behind Chelsea and playing in tomorrow’s early kick off gives Wenger’s side a chance to go above their rivals for the first time this season, even if only for a few hours.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have led the way from the very first week of the campaign in August though their surprise defeat to Sunderland last weekend means Arsenal could knock them off top spot.

“That is a big motivation for us because we have created a momentum, and have won five of the last six,” said Wenger.

“Although we lost one, the opponent only had one shot on goal. We have created momentum and just want to continue.

“Tottenham are a good team and one we respect.

“We just want to create a good performance to win the game, so let's just do it.”
