Arsène Wenger says contract talks with William Gallas are ongoing, and going well.
The centre-back has been in exceptional form ever since he relinquished the captaincy 14 months ago but his current deal expires at the end of the season.
Wenger hinted a few weeks back that he may relax his well-established 'over-30s' rule to keep Gallas at Arsenal by offering him more than a one-year contract.
And, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, the manager revealed that recent talks had been positive.
"Yes, it's going well," he said.
"Let's keep the negotiations confidential. If we get to a conclusion, we will let you know. At the moment, I think it's better we don't talk about it.
"It is not long ago [since we last held talks], a week ago, something like that."
