Arsène Wenger believes Olivier Giroud's “spirit” means he has always been a popular player among the Arsenal supporters.
The French forward rounded off a tireless performance against Crystal Palace with his eighth goal of the season to keep the Gunners on top of the Premier League.
Afterwards, Wenger hailed the 27-year-old's battling qualities and his desire to improve.

"That is what makes him great," said Wenger. "He missed some chances but always got the support of our fans because he shows he is ready for a fight. The fact that he kept going got him a goal.
"How much has he improved? I don't know. But he has. That's obvious to everybody. If he keeps working like that then he will improve again. I like his spirit."
Arsenal had to dig deep for the three points at Selhurst Park after Mikel Arteta's 65th-minute dismissal meant they had to play the remainder of the game with 10 men.
"It was important not to make a mistake defensively and be patient because we always felt a goal would come," Wenger added.
