Arsène Wenger wants Lukasz Fabianski to show just how good he is tonight when he starts against Partizan Belgrade, and the manager is confident his goalkeeper will prove his worth.
Fabianski made a handful of errors last season and admitted he was “disappointed” with his role in the goal Tottenham scored in the Carling Cup tie last week – his one appearance of the season to date.
However an elbow injury to Manuel Almunia means the Pole has another chance to demonstrate his ability. Wenger has always championed Fabianski and believes he will come good.
“I want him to show how good he is,” said Wenger. “He gets another opportunity to show how good he is.
“There is only one way to show confidence in a player and that is to put him on the pitch and give him his chance. I have confidence in him.
“As a manager you can give a chance to a player who is good enough - I believe in his talent.
“It is another big chance but you want a goalkeeper or any player to grab the chance when you get it.”
