Arsène Wenger believes Arsenal will encounter a different style of play than they have done in previous seasons when they visit Blackburn on Saturday. All the same, he expects a “massive test” at Ewood Park.
Since the appointment of Steve Kean, Rovers have adopted a quick, exciting brand of football played by technically-astute players, taking an altogether contrasting approach to the one employed by previous managerial regimes.
With just one point from their opening four games, Blackburn currently sit bottom of the Premier League table but Wenger is under no illusions that his side face a tough challenge at the weekend.
“I’m not sure that Blackburn is the team now that goes for high balls,” he said. “It’s more Stoke where you get this kind of typical old-fashioned English test.
“Blackburn have gone more different but it’s a big test for us. It’s a massive test for us.
“First of all you know if you want to play a good role in the Premier League, the way you go from the Champions League to the Premier League is important. And playing away from home after a Champions League game is vital as well.”Copyright 2017 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
