England should not even think about leaving FIFA, according to Arsène Wenger.

In the wake of Russia being handed the 2018 World Cup it has been suggested that this country could breakaway from football’s governing body.

The Arsenal manager argues it would do much more harm than good.

“What does that sort out?” he asked. “ That we do not go to the World Cup anymore, that we do not play in any international competition.

“It is not realistic. England created this sport and has contributed to making this sport popular all over the world. I don’t support this. I believe always in a more positive attitude than that.

"This country loves the sport so much and this does not lead us anywhere. What happened is a massive disappointment but you could stop all these questions by being more technical in the process.

“Frankly, at the moment it looks a little bit that you have a castle up there and you flatter them to get the World Cup. Personally, I would like a more technical bid.”
