Arsène Wenger believes a World Cup in England is "long overdue".
The Football Association has confirmed it will bid for the 2018 tournament following Fifa's decision to end its rotation policy between continents. England lost out to Germany in the race to host the 2006 Finals and Wenger explained why he is backing the FA's bid.
"Because I think 1966 to 2018 is too long, personally," said the Frenchman. That's 52 years for the country who invented the game. That's ridiculous.
"Some other countries, like Germany, have had it twice in between. That's not normal. [For England] It's long overdue."Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
