Arsène Wenger believes that Borussia Dortmund are cut from the same cloth as his team.

Arsenal and the German champions played out an entertaining 1-1 draw when they met in their Group F opener at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night as Ivan Perisic's stunning late volley matched Robin van Persie's first-half strike.

Wenger was a whisker away from claiming three valuable points but he admits he was satisfied with one and has revealed his admiration for Dortmund - a team he feels is similar to his own.

"The team has similar qualities - they are mobile, technically they are all on the move and they have a good team discipline," said the Frenchman. "They play a modern game and they have a long distance runners in the team.

"If you look purely at the chances I think we had some very good chances," he added. "We gave them some chances away at the start of the game but especially in the second half they didn’t create a lot.

"But they play similar to us and they won the league by a distance last year - I think in March it was basically decided. You don’t do that in Germany without quality."
