The appointment of Arsenal's new 'Director of Football' will be down to Arsène Wenger.

Player recruitment has always been a two-man job during the Frenchman's 10-year tenure in North London. Until last week, the second role was fulfilled by vice-chairman David Dein. However his departure leaves a vacancy that needs to be filled.

"[An appointment] will happen," said Wenger after Saturday's draw at Tottenham. "But at the moment I have not given it any thought.

When asked if the decision would be down to him, the Frenchman replied: "Yes".

* It is important to note that no job title has been specified. Therefore the label 'Director of Football' is being used as a blanket term for this type of role.
