The next month will be crucial for Arsenal, according to Arsène Wenger.
The Frenchman has hauled his side up to seventh in the table by winning their last three Premier League games. Last Saturday's victory at third-place Chelsea was probably the most satisfying three points of the season so far and the Arsenal manager feels that, if they keep their good form going, his side could 'kick-on' after Christmas.
"If we are in a very strong position in December then we have a good chance," he said. "By then, we will have played Man City away, Tottenham away, Chelsea away, Man United away and they all come to the Emirates after Christmas. For us to be in a strong position at that stage would be very important."
Before that, Arsenal have a very winnable run of fixtures - on paper at least. But, speaking at Friday's press conference, Wenger cautioned against complacency.
"Football is not as rational and mathematical as that," he said. "I believe in the Premier League you get what you deserve from the quality of your performance. What is good for us is that we look to be becoming stronger from game to game. If we can maintain that desire to improve collectively then we have a chance to make results and to come back. That will be down to the quality of our attitude and the quality of our spirit.
"Nobody is guaranteed to be in the top four after 10 games. Nobody has enough knowledge to completely say who will finish in the top four. If you look historically we are not too bad [at being] in there. Let's just let everybody else talk and we will play. If we play better and better then we will have a chance."Copyright 2014 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
