Arsène Wenger believes Chelsea have to win at Old Trafford on Sunday to keep the title race alive.
Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United last weekend gave hope to Carlo Ancelotti’s side and revived a faint flicker of optimism for the Emirates Stadium outfit too.
Wenger’s men can go level on points with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon if they beat Stoke. However, a couple of hours later, the top two play each other in the north west. The Arsenal manager feels only an away win will be good enough for the two London teams
“We did ourselves a favour - and indirectly Chelsea as well - last weekend,” he said. “But the only way we still have a chance is for Chelsea to win the game on Sunday.
“Man United still have an advantage because to play for the title at home. But none of the teams at the moment are dominant enough to say that there is a clear favourite. That is why it is still open.
“They know each other so well so until the first goal it will be mainly tactical. That will have a massive importance in a tie like this, we have seen that in the Champions League recently.”Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
