Arsène Wenger believes the Champions League is easier to win - and lose - than the Premier League.
These two trophies represent the Arsenal manager’s twin aims for the current season and winning either would represent a great campaign in itself. But, the Frenchman believes, the European trophy can be lifted by raising your game on fewer occasions.
“You can win the Champions League by being less consistent than you need to be to win the Premier League,” said Wenger.
“The Champions League is easier to win and easier to lose. In the first stage it is a championship, but after that it really is a cup competition.
“You can turn it on for the day. [If you do that] six or 10 times a year, you can win it.”
