Arsène Wenger believes Mikel Arteta is a “complete” footballer.
Arteta joined the Gunners on transfer deadline day from Premier League rivals Everton and has already made his mark with a string of impressive performances.
The Spaniard accompanied Wenger at his pre-match press conference and is expected to make his home Champions League debut against Olympiacos on Wednesday. His manager says Arteta’s strong start is no surprise.
“He is not a newcomer,” said Wenger. “Everybody knows him in England. We all knew he is an excellent player. He has integrated very well into the group.
“Mikel is a complete football player - he can defend, he can attack, and is very ambitious. He wants to do well and is very professional.”
