Arsène Wenger agrees with Cesc Fabregas’ assessment of Jack Wilshere’s footballing anatomy – Spanish technique, English heart.
The 19-year-old midfielder put in a sparkling performance in the 2-1 win over Barcelona on Wednesday. The likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi were on display but it was Wilshere who took the eye.
Afterwards, his captain poured praise on the youngster. His manager continued the compliments at his Friday press conference.
“He has Spanish technique certainly,” said Wenger. “But he has an English heart because he is an English boy. He just loves to win like all the other players in my team and he showed that on Wednesday night.
“What I like is that he takes everything with a cool head. When you are at his age, you want to play and to play again and show how good you are. He is not phased by the occasion and he is not inhibited. That is what is fantastic with him.”Copyright 2016 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
