Wenger - 100-goal barrier is not on our minds
By Richard Clarke
Arsène Wenger has played down predictions that Arsenal could break the 100-goal barrier in the Premier League this season.
So far the Emirates Stadium side have 36 strikes in 11 games – well ahead of the required rate. Another four arrived on Saturday in a comfortable win at Wolves.
Afterwards Wenger was far too canny to really entertain the idea just yet.
“I don’t know if we can do it,” he said. “What is possible is to continue the way we play and play better.
“In football when you have a certain experience you are always cautious because it is a very fragile sport. The negative ingredients and the positive ones are multiplied and not added.
“Let’s just the keep the level of our game high, then we know we can score goals.
“The total so far shows our style of play suits the team. The way we play football, the way we are organised and go forward suits our players too.”
