Sanchez Watt might be delighted to have signed a contract extension at Arsenal but the young striker has already set his sights on earning another new deal with the Club and making more first-team appearances this season.
The 18-year-old is the Reserves' top scorer so far this term with five goals in seven games. He also scored on his first-team debut in the 2-0 Carling Cup victory over West Brom in September.
Watt says his contract extension has furthered his determination to do well with the Gunners, telling Arsenal.com that Arsène Wenger's belief in him has raised his confidence.
"I was very pleased to sign a contract extension," he said. "There are a million players who would love to sign at Arsenal.
"It's good because it increases your confidence, knowing that the Club has belief in you. You have more drive.
"When you know they're interested you push on more and feel more relaxed and start to try new things. You feel more involved in the squad."
And one contract extension isn't enough for the English forward who sees his long-term future at Arsenal.
"Hopefully I can push on and add to that contract and make it longer," he said. "I'm going to work hard for my next one."
A goal-scoring debut, a new contract and an impressive start to the Reserves' season is a good start for Watt but he wants more. And more includes further opportunities to impress in the first-team.
"This is a contract that gives me more time to prove myself and hopefully I will," he said.
"I want to get a few first-team chances, even just getting in the squad because you know you're improving if you're getting on the bench because there are a lot of players in the team.
"Even though players are getting injured there are still a lot of young players fighting for places.
"I don't think the injuries give me more of a chance in the first-team but maybe Wenger will have more of a look at me now."
