Walcott to make his mark for England?
England’s Euro 2008 nemesis, Croatia, now await in World Cup Qualifying and the team, dubbed in recent years, the “Golden Generation” will be itching to live up to the name and take revenge against Slaven Bilic’s men. The 2-0 victory against Andorra on Saturday wasn’t the stroll in the park a few predicted but a win is a win and the Three Lions go to Zagreb knowing avoiding defeat and putting in a strong performance will set things up nicely.
Given the recent respective performances, England, for once, go into the match as underdogs – 9/4 to win the match against 11/8 for Croatia. The draw, a quite possible and satisfactory outcome, is available at 21/10.
With Gerrard out injured, Owen not selected in the squad and England’s other headline matchwinners struggling for form, Capello will be looking to other players to stand up and be counted.
