The decision to rearrange last week's big game against Chelsea did nothing to ease Arsenal's fixture congestion - but it did enhance the players’ Christmas experiences.

Theo Walcott was one of the stars of that 3-1 win over the champions and was an influential force again as Arsène Wenger's side saw off Birmingham on Saturday.

Wednesday's clash with Manchester City concludes a run of four games in just nine days for the Gunners but Christmas hasn't been just about hard work for Walcott.

"It was nice that the Chelsea game was on Monday, you could relax a bit more on Christmas Day," he told the Official Matchday Programme.

"We had absolutely everything, we all pigged out and I did too. That was the good thing - if our game was on Boxing Day, we’d have had to meet up the night before at the hotel, so this time we were all able to enjoy it a little more.

“All the family came to my house and [his partner] Mel’s family came over on the day of the Chelsea game so they watched me play as well. Even thought the snow was going there was still a little covering so that was nice for the kids and everything - it’s all about the kids for me. The most important thing is that the family comes together.

"Last year I was injured so I had another Christmas [in 2009]. I’ve done alright!”
