Walcott's ankle 'better than expected'

By Richard Clarke

Theo Walcott’s ankle injury is better than expected and he will hopefully be fit for the start of the season.

The Arsenal striker was sent home early from the Club’s training camp in Germany for further investigation on the problem that had keep him sidelined for Monday’s training sessions.

However, during Friday’s Emirates Cup press conference, Arsène Wenger suggested the problem was thankfully short-term.

“It is better than expected,” said the manager. “He is ten days out.”

Wenger was then asked if Walcott might make the start of the season. He replied: “He could, we are hopeful.”
