Theo Walcott says Arsenal’s season effectively starts against Swansea after a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign.

Arsène Wenger’s side welcome the Premier League new boys to Emirates Stadium this weekend and the England forward believes the game represents a new chapter for the team.

Walcott could line up alongside some fresh faces in the shape of Mikel Arteta, Yossi Benayoun and Per Mertesacker on Saturday and Walcott says the players are determined to put the result against Manchester United firmly behind them.

“We need to start our season against Swansea,” he told Arsenal Player. “We need to forget about the games against Liverpool and Manchester United.

“We need to react in a positive way. We need players to stand up and be counted because, if we’re honest, it wasn’t good enough against Manchester United.

“I’m not dwelling on it and hopefully none of the other players are dwelling on it."
