Theo Walcott says playing alongside Robin van Persie is a “dream come true”.

Van Persie extended his lead at the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool, hitting a late winner to cement Arsenal’s place in the top four.

Walcott has formed an excellent partnership with the Dutchman so far this season and praised his captain once more after the Anfield win.

“We have some world-class players here and obviously the one who stands out is Robin,” the winger told Arsenal.com.

“The goals he is scoring from any angle are just absolutely fantastic and to be involved and watch him is just a dream come true to be honest. He is in the form of his life and we are all behind him.

“But the team as a whole are playing tremendously well. We need to try and stop conceding goals but we are winning and that is all that matters at the moment.

“We showed great character even though, to be honest, we weren't really in the game [on Saturday],” he added. “Liverpool played very well and their home support gave them that extra man.

“We found it difficult at times but it just shows the characters that we have in the dressing room, you only have to look at what we did.

“It was a good performance and a good win which hopefully we can take into Tuesday's game now.”
